Man Dies After Car Hits Bus

LAND - O' LAKES - A 58-year-old man died Thursday morning after his 2007 Toyota Corolla collided with a bus, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Robert H. Onstad of 12646 Onstad Lane, New Port Richey, was driving on Softwind Lane about 7:40 a.m. when his car "began to travel south on the northbound side" of the road, a highway patrol report said.

Jean M. Dinapoli, 56, of 6427 Meadowbrooke Lane, New Port Richey, tried to steer the 1989 Bluebird bus out of Onstad's way, but the left front of the Corolla struck the left front of the bus, the report said.

Dinapoli was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg; her condition was unavailable later Thursday. Two adult passengers in the bus were not injured.
